Vallarta and Bahia de Banderas are a real estate destination for widely varied buyer profiles. Both national and foreign older people who are retiring, as well as young families that are investing in real estate.

The range of possibilities for a tourist or vacation home buyer is broad; this city offers alternatives for every budget. It is possible to find properties with a swimming pool and amenities such as a palm shelter and outdoor grills for slightly over USD$100,000.

Certainly, Vallarta is on a recovery path that has been slow and tortuous after the mortgage, economic, and real estate crisis of the 2009-2010 period. It is expected to regain its luster through various investments that are taking place along the Boardwalk and in several key places around the city.

An investment that will be key for the city's future is the new highway from Guadalajara to Vallarta, which will make it possible to travel the distance in only 2.5 hours. This market will simplify access further for many families from Jalisco, but it will also incorporate the markets from the Bajio region, which is an area with strong economic growth. Among the main cities expected to be “brought closer” to Vallarta through this road are:

• Aguascalientes
• Leon
• Irapuato
• Celaya
• Guanajuato
• Queretaro
• Morelia
• Mexico City
• Toluca.

Vacation product inventories in the city of Vallarta, considered as a great metropolitan area (the Vallarta and Bahia de Banderas municipalities), have been declining and are at a point where they must grow again through the launching of new projects for sale. Clear and remarkable growth is expected in 2012.
