Tulum Real Estate - What is Luxury Land?

When we think of “luxury” we usually think of an elaborate condo complex or a large, beautiful home in an exclusive location. What about land – is it possible to have “luxury land?” Tulum real estate shows that it is.

Land for sale in Tulum takes a number of forms, falling into the two main categories of raw land and development land. While raw land is just that – a parcel of land which requires the imagination and investment on the part of the buyer to give it shape – development land in the area gives a sense of what luxury land is.

First of all, one option growing in popularity is gated communities with lots for sale. This kind of community offers land buyers exclusivity, modern infrastructure, such as roads, underground wiring and the best of up-to-date communications, designated green areas, parks and, perhaps most significantly, a village center area with shops, restaurants and services.

Aldea Zama exemplifies this kind of community. Those who buy lots for sale in this community are not just buying a piece of land next to a road; they are buying a complete lifestyle – trendy, contemporary and convenient. In addition to the community itself, Aldea Zama is located next to Tulum’s village center, the future location of a new resort complex (complete with a Jack Nicklaus golf course) and the protected Tulum National Park. The development is also a walk away from the beach; the walk will take residents right along the resort’s promenade shopping area.

Another kind of land development that is gaining popularity is the “off-the-grid” developments back from the beach. These developments go right to the heart of Tulum’s environmental focus. While it may seem a stretch to call an eco-friendly, off-the-grid development “luxury,” the nearby village of Akumal demonstrates that this kind of culture can go hand-in-hand with a high-end luxury lifestyle.

Throughout Tulum a handful of new well-designed homes are being built with features such as window shape and orientation to prevent heating, water-garden water-treatment systems, solar panels and wind turbines. Developments such as Los Arboles just a few kilometers west of town are attempting to capture the essence of this kind of lifestyle.

Tulum is showing real estate buyers that land purchases and even off-the-grid environmentalism can go hand-in-hand with the concept of “luxury.” Buyers looking for a luxury property purchase should consider land in Tulum as a real and viable choice.
