VM: What is Playa Candelillas Airpark?
Playa Candelillas Airpark is the first and only project of its kind in all of the Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo area. In fact, it is unique in the entire state of Guerrero, and, perhaps in all of Mexico. Playa Candelillas Airpark is designed to the perfect combination of Earth, Sea & Sky which will cater to the person who enjoys panoramic ocean views, surfing and flying private aircraft. The property measures nearly 400,000 square meters in total. The project consists of an 800 to 1,000 meter long paved landing strip, ocean front residential lots of 30 meters wide by 80 meters deep, larger lots for hangars and auxiliary services, interior roads and urban services.

VM: Where is the project to be constructed?
Playa Candelillas is located 1 hour’s drive to the northwest of Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo, Guerrero in the village of El Chico in the municipality of La Union, Guerrero on the Zihuatanejo-Lazaro Cardenas Highway 200. It’s privileged location equidistant between the industrial port city of Lazaro Cardenas, Michoacan to the north and the tourist resort of Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo, Guerrero to the south; and, it’s proximity to the 4-lane highway leading to the colonial towns of Patzcuaro and Morelia, Michoacan as well as the El Bajio region in Mexico’s interior places Playa Candelillas Airpark in the heart of a triangle of coastal property which will see the bulk of residential and commercial development to occur in the Pacific Coast within the next 3 to 7 years.

VM: Why begin a project now during such challenging economic times?
There is no better time than the present. As the economy continues to struggle to shake off the effects of a world recession new opportunities arise. One area of opportunity in particular is very interesting: air travel in private planes and jets. As the commercial airline industry accelerates the space of consolidation, fare and fee increases and reduction of flights and routes personal aircraft travel becomes increasingly more attractive from both an economic and a convenience standpoint. Playa Candelillas Airpark is located within a 3 hour radius from all major airports within Mexico and within a 6 hour radius from numerous major United States and Canadian airports. The comfort and convenience of being able to travel on the day and hour that one chooses is indeed a unique and affordable luxury in these days of outrageous baggage fees and $8 dollars drinks.

VM: Who is the developer of Playa Candelillas Airpark?
The project is owned by Candelillas Investments, a Mexican corporation. The chief operating partner is a local resident of many years originally from the Province of Quebec, Canada. He has over 40 years experience in the management and supervision of major construction projects in Canada, The United States and Mexico. He is also a private aircraft owner and pilot with decades of experience in the needs and wants of the flying community. He is so committed to this project that he has stated his willingness to meet any interested flyers at the Mexican airport of their choice to taxi them to Playa Candelillas Airpark.

VM: When will the project begin construction?
The land has been purchased and the legal documentation is well along in the approval process. Plans for the airstrip and the subdivision of the residential and commercial lots have been completed and registered. Preparation of the land itself as well as the road leading from the Highway 200 to the development continues and should be completed by autumn. Our marketing campaign has begun with the placement of Billboards on the major highway. And of course, Playa Candelillas Airpark will appear in the upcoming edition of Ventana Magazine which will highlight the Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo tourist paradise.

VM: How can interested parties find out more about this exciting development?
The website is: www.airpark.com.mx where one can find additional information as well as maps and plans and contact information.

For more information you may contact AirPark at: javyranch2@hotmail.com or timsullivan@prodigy.net.mx
