Puerto Vallarta.- The Discovery Weekend began Thursday checking into a beautiful Banderas Bay beach front resort with a welcome cocktail party where we met the other guests and Mexico Alive´s staff. The fun continued as we took the private bus during our tour of Puerto Vallarta. We then returned to the resort to get ready for the Mexican Fiesta dinner on the lawn under the stars.

We all met Friday for a buffet breakfast in the conference room then the Discovery session started with an introduction to Mexico Alive: the real estate experience. Their professional team brought a panel of experts for a seminar which broadens our knowledge of the Puerto Vallarta real estate market.

We heard Tom Kelly, author of the book “Cashing in on a Second Home in Mexico”, former real estate editor for the Seattle Times, nationally syndicated newspaper columnist and talk show host. Next the discussion centered on real estate in Puerto Vallarta, Nuevo Vallarta and the surrounding areas. We also learned about pre-construction return on investment. Their overview of developments was surprising with details about three different projects 3.14, Delcanto, and Haixa.

Our tour bus awaited us for a tour of the developments. It was our chance to walk around each property, to see for ourselves the neighborhoods and some models. We could compare the properties and amenities. They even explained about the history of each developer. After touring all of the properties, the group was ready to board our own catamaran to take the Banderas Bay Cruise. We then had to return to the resort for dinner. Not an ordinary dinner, but dinner on the sandy beach with flaming torches to light our tables.

The next day, Saturday, was a panel discussion with Mexico Alive’s experts: Author/real estate expert Tom Kelly, CONFICASA explaining about loans and credits to buy property in Mexico, First American Title, Guidant Financial and IRA advisor, an attorney and Healthcare Resource information. With the afternoon free to do whatever we wanted until the candlelight cocktail reception and dinner on the terrace overlooking Banderas Bay.
